Not really a blogger!

I think Facebook has overtaken blogging, but every now and then I think I must update this site and now am totally mortified that its been a year since I did it last! 

There's lots happening in the craft world right now, new products, new tools, classes, retreats, and tutorials and videos from all parts of the world hitting our craft buttons! (and our purses!)

Its been a very busy year for me so far, going to workshops here there and everywhere trying to learn new things.  Even had a go at art journaling and folk art painting!  Earlier in the year I gained my Copic Designer Certificate, thanks to the lovely Faye Wynne-Jones, who is an amazing colourist. 

Recently I secured a prized place on one of the Tim Holtz workshops in Harrogate in September - when the craft god himself will be in the country for a few days showing us mere mortals how to use his products! Can't wait! I am sure we can squeeze in afternoon tea at Betty's teashop whilst we are there!

So my next classes will have Autumn and Christmas inspired themes - love autumn colours - and on 2nd December Clare Charvill will be teaching one of her fab 3-D projects - not sure what the project will be yet, but it will be G45 for sure.   The venue is The Rothley Centre, Rothley Leicestershire and the price for this special one off class is £40pp. Deposits being taken now!  Just call or email me to book your place.

Christmas is coming!!

Its hardly the end of summer but us crafters are gearing up for some serious Christmas crafting!  Plus Stampin' Up! are about to launch their new Autumn/Winter Catalogue to customers on 1st September.

New Toy!

Last Thursday I took delivery of 10 of the new MISTI stamping positioning tool - invented by Iliana at MySweetPetunia.  Six had definite new homes to go to, but I was a bit worried that I was going to be left with remaining 4, shouldn't have worried.... only have one left to sell now !   Email me if you're interested!

New Year, New Start, New Look!

Well I was a bad blogger last year, hope to make it up this year!

I held some great classes throughout 2014 and I have lots of photos to share with you - I'll put them in the gallery.  Bear with me whilst I get the updating done!!

My first class of the new year is on Saturday 24th January, at our new regular venue at the Queen Victoria Pub on the High Street in Syston! 

 

So we'll be making these beautiful flowers from a new kit idea from Stampin' Up!

 

 

This is just a sample of the flowers, the kit makes about 25 in all.  As I didn't have a vase to put them in I used my illuminated Christmas cone to show them off!

Today's Workshop

What a fabulous day we've had creating a unique piece of home decor....a notice board and heart plaque.

The Home word and large hearts were sourced from Rob the MDF Man. And anyone that knows their stamps will recognise IndigoBlu and Tim Holtz in the mix!  We used acrylic paints, embossing paste, crackle paint and gilding waxes and stamped and stencilled with distress stains. I came up with the concept and suggested layouts, but everyone came up with a different look!

Next Workshop

Huge apologies for not posting till now.... time just whizzes by and loads of things have been happening.. first things first....workshop info...

15th March - 10am till 5pm (ish)
We'll be creating a fabulous mdf notice board! I dont have anything to show you yet, but there will be ink, paint and grunge paste involved! So apron is definately a must. Please book your place asap!

12th April - 10am till 5pm (ish)
MOLLY BLOOMS WORKSHOP WITH CLARE ROWLANDS!
I've managed to book another fantastic day for us with the lovely Clare. Fab goody will include Molly Blooms stamps! Booking is absolutely essential as places are limited!

18th & 19th April
Two days crafting either bring your own projects to work on or I can provide some project bags containing all materials and instructions. Ring me for details.

Saturday 22nd Feb saw my first sewing workshop at Barrow, with the multi-talented Lorna Simons sharing her skills with us! Lorna brought all the materials, pattern and instructions to make a fabulous messenger bag. It was a fantastic day and everyone finished their bag, including me!! The next sewing class will be in May so please book asap to ensure your place!

Classes this year

Well as you can see over there on the right all the 2014 class dates are booked in now with the venue. And we have secured the lovely Clare Rowlands for several more Molly Blooms workshops throughout the year!

We all had a thoroughly enjoyable day on the 18th January making a cute little basket, embellished with Molly Blooms Stamps, under the expert guidance of Clare Rowlands!

Some of us joined a sewing "crop" in January and we got given homework! Can you believe it!! I've just about finished mine off. No detention for me! And its going to be interesting to see what the others come up with.... no pattern... three small pieces of cloth and a length of ribbon! I'll see if I can get some photos.

I have got a little hooked on the Molly Bloom stamps recently and bought "Mystic Molly" and "Molly's Gypsy Caravan". (and currently waiting patiently for the 2013 Christmas collection!) So I have been practicing colouring with my copics ... I'm getting better all the time, what do you think? I need more pens though!!

Also held two really good classes since - we gilded some baubles and made some cute little bags (based on the original by Amy Celona).

My next class on November 16th will be centre around the Festive Flurry Stamps and Framelit Dies, check out the details in the workshop tab at the top.

Split into two parts, the day will consist of

Planning for Christmas: When we will be decorating our own This & That Seasons of Style Christmas planner for those of us who like to get organised early!!  And then...

The "Scrap Box" Challenge: choose your template, then your colours from the Colour Coach and then dive into the "scrapbox" (yes its that deep!) for your papers to create four cards and a decorated box. 

How could you resist??  Time is 10am till 5pm, at The Soar Bridge Inn, Barrow upon Soar.
Cost is £35 per person which includes all materials and light lunch.

This & That

Well, its been a busy August... lovely holiday and some great crafting.

Went to Ali Craft's retreat in Daventry over the bank holiday weekend... Had loads of fun using G45 Steampunk Spells to make a fantastic pocket book with Claire Charvill and a work of art on canvas with Ali and Iain! Photos to follow! Then a full day last Monday at the MDF man with Hels Sheridan making this....

My fabulous clock!

My head is full of ideas for future classes now!

Talking of which... tomorrow is my first Christmas class! We'll be making some great projects! The class also get to see the new Christmas brochure from Stampin Up and ooooh and ahhhh over some lush new products! Its available on line so have a look.

I particularly like the new Seasons of Style journal/planner and all the bits that go with it!

So my class on the 28th September will feature this lovely Journal to get that Christmas planning just right! And if you book by 14th Sept you will get a fab Seasons of Style goody bag worth £30!
